Marfa, West Texas, a small town with 2000 residents in the expanse of the desert, 20 miles away from the next town and 200 miles away from the next domestic airport. 

Marfa, West Texas, eine Kleinstadt mit 2000 Einwohnern in der Weite der Wueste, 20 Meilen entfernt bis zur naechsten Stadt und 200 Meilen bis zum naechsten Inlandsflughafen.

I wanted to go to Marfa, because I read about it a lot. The last years there was a kind of hype about Marfa, because of the art institutions, festivals and stores. Last week I had the possibility! Finally! My dear husband had a kind of job to do close to Marfa. How lucky I was!

Ich wollte unbedingt nach Marfa, weil ich viel darueber gelesen habe. Die letzten Jahre gab es einen Hype auf Marfa, begruendet durch Kunstinstitutionen, Festivals und Shops. Letzte Woche war es dann endlich soweit! Mein lieber Mann hatte einen Job zu erledigen, ganz in der Naehe von Marfa. Wie gluecklich ich darueber war!

It was exactly what I heard about Marfa: a very small town in the loneliness, a food truck named Shark with delicious food, some hotels and shops and the famous Chinati Foundation (Link here), which is a museum with installations of art, design and architecture, combined with the desert.

Es war genau so, wie ich von Marfa gehoert habe: eine sehr kleine Stadt in absoluter Einsamkeit, dem Shark Food Truck, der leckeres Essen anbietet, ein paar Hotels und Shops, und der bekannten Chinati Foundation (Link hier), einem Kunstmuseum, das Installationen von Kunst, Design und Architektur, mit der Wueste vereinigt. 

And then the Prade store, a permanently installed sculpture, which was a fake store with some older shoes and purses, in the middle of nowhere, by truth. 26 miles away from Marfa, very lonely and the only one building for miles. I was so excited just about the idea! A photo with the shop was a must have for me. Many other bloggers are doing the same and you can find a lot of photos from the Prada Store. Even at Wikipedia is the store mentioned (Link here).

Und dann war da noch Prada, eine permanent installierte Skulptur, die ein Fake Store ist mit einigen aelteren Schuhen und Handtaschen, mitten im Nichts. 26 Meilen noerdlich von Marfa gelegen, sehr einsam, und das einzige Gebauede meilenweit. Alleine diese Idee zu haben und umzusetzen, hat mich total begeistert! Ein Foto mit dem Shop musste unbedingt her. Photos von dem Prada Shop sind gerade in vielen anderen Blogs zu sehen. Marfa is a must for everybody who loves art and design. The way is far, but when you've arrived, you do not want to go back.

Fuer Liebhaber von Kunst und Design ist Marfa ein Muss. Der Weg ist sehr weit, aber ist man erst mal dort, moechte man irgendwie nicht mehr so schnell weg.
