Los Angeles for first time travelers is an adventure. The traffic is bad, especially at the rush hour, and almost always at the major roads. Whatever, get the Waze App, a navigation-app with real-time help from other drivers, just start, and enjoy the mix of beach, hills, landscape, iconic sites, and architecture. Keep reading to find out my favorites!

Das erste Mal Los Angeles ist definitiv ein Abenteuer. Der Verkehr ist schlimm, besonders zur Rushhour, und beinahe permanent auf den Hauptverkehrsstrassen. Trotz allem, ladet die Waze App, eine Navigations-App mit Echtzeithilfe von anderen Fahrern, startet, und geniesst die Mischung aus Strand, Huegel, Landschaft, Kultstaetten und Architektur. Lest weiter um meine Favoriten zu sehen!

1. Mulholland Drive

The Mulholland Drive is a 21 miles (34 km) long panorama street, which offers stunning views of Los Angeles, the skyline, the Hollywood Sign, the hills, and the valley. Here are some of the most valuable villas, occupied by celebrities of the film industry.

Der Mulholland Drive ist eine 34 km lange Panorama Strasse, die atemberaubende Blicke auf Los Angeles bietet, auch auf die Skyline, auf das Hollywood Zeichen, die Huegel und das Tal. Hier stehen die teuersten Villen, bewohnt von beruehmten Personen aus der Filmbranche.

2. Hollywood Sign

There are some possibilities to get a view to the Hollywood Sign. No matter if from far or wide, the sign is spectacular.

Es gibt mehrere Moeglichkeiten, das Hollywood Zeichen aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven zu sehen. Egal ob von nah oder fern, das Zeichen ist spektakulaer.

3. Beverly Hills

The Rodeo Drive is in Beverly Hills, for window shopping, unless you want to spend a lot of money in one of the designer shops. Enjoy rather the ride through the terrific palm streets.

Der Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills ist eher fuer einen Schaufensterbummel gedacht, es sei denn, Ihr wollt tatsaechlich in einem der edlen Designershops einkaufen. Geniesst eher die Fahrt durch eine der wunderbaren, mit Palmen bestueckten, Strassen.

4. Melrose Avenue

The Melrose Avenue is a shopping and dining district, one side of the road with the higher-priced designer shops, the other side with more funky, casual, budget shops. Between the shops and eateries is some nice wall art.

Die Melrose Avenue ist ein Shopping- und Ausgehviertel, das eine Ende der Strasse mit hoeherpreisigen Designershops, das andere Ende mit eher flippig, laessigen etwas preiswerteren Geschaeften. Zwischen den Shops und Restaurants sind einige Hauswaende mit toller Wandkunst.

5. Venice Beach

The beautiful ocean front walk is a hot spot for tourists in Venice Beach. Make a stroll to the Abbot Kinney Avenue for shopping and dining. Go to the Venice Canals and feel a touch of Venice (Italy). If you want more from Venice, klick here for my Venice blog post. 

In Venice Beach ist die wunderschoene lange Strandpromenade ein Hot Spot fuer viele Touristen. Die Abbot Kinney Avenue laedt ein zum flanieren, shoppen, essen und trinken.  Und nicht zu vergessen die Kanalwege, die einen Hauch von Venedig verbreiten. 6. Griffith Observatory 

The Griffith Observatory is located in the hills of L.A. It offers stunning views of L.A., including the Hollywood Sign, it is a planetarium, and it appeared in some movies. The architecture is a mixture of Art Deco and Egyptian style.  

Das Griffith Observatorium befindet sich auch in den Hills von L.A. Es bietet unglaubliche Blicke auf L.A. und auf das Hollywood Zeichen, es ist ein Planetarium, und diente als Filmkulisse fuer mehrere Filme. Der Bau ist ein Mix aus Art Deco und aegyptischem Stil.

7. Museum

Getty Center

Visit one of the largest art museums with its beautiful garden, located on the L.A., hills with a spectacular view to L.A. 

Besucht eines der groessten Kunstmuseen mit seinem schoenen Garten, gelegen in den L.A. Bergen, alleine schon wegen dem spektakulaeren Blick auf L.A. 

Annenberg Space for Photography

It is a Must for photographers! A small museum with changing exhibitions from different photographers.

Ein Muss fuer Fotographen! Es ist ein kleines Museum mit wechselnden Ausstellung verschiedener Fotographen.

LACMA Los Angeles County Museum of Art

It is the largest art museum of the West USA, and the one with the large antique lamps outside.

Es ist eines der groessten Kunstmuseen der Westkueste, und das beruehmte Museum mit den grossen antiken Strassenlampen.

8. Basketball


L.A. CLippers and L.A. Lakers are both professional basketball teams in L.A. Don't miss a game, when you are around!

L.A. Clippers und L.A. Lakers sind beide professionelle Basketball Teams in L.A. Geht zu einem der Spiele, wenn Ihr da seid!

9. Beach

Go for a trip to the beach! All the beaches - whether Venice, Manhattan, Hermosa, Huntington, or many more - are amazing, wide, clean, bright, just beautiful.

Geht zu einem der Straende! Alle Straende - egal ob Venice, Manhattan, Hermosa, Huntington oder andere - sind einfach toll, breit, sauber, hell, wunderschoen.

10. Dana Wharf (a day trip outside L.A.)

If you like boating, dolphins and whale watching, go outside L.A., and go for boat ride. It starts every 2-3 hours and takes 2 hours. You can see dolphins and also whales, swimming close to the boat (if you are lucky;).

Bootfahren, Delphine und Whale? Geht raus aus L.A. und macht eine Bootsfahrt. Start ist alle 2-3 Stunden fuer eine 2-Stunden-Tour. Zu sehen sind Delphine und auch Wale, die durchaus auch nah ans Boot herankommen (wenn Ihr Glueck habt;).

You really can't go wrong with a trip to L.A. Be prepared! L.A. offers more than enough for every preference!

Ihr koennt nicht falsch liegen mit einer Reise nach L.A. Seid gut vorbereitet! L.A. bietet mehr als genug Moeglichkeiten fuer jeden Geschmack!
